We’re getting some laughs in this weekend with our friends at the Vortex Laughing Skull Lounge. Their 3^rd annual Comedy Festival, which features over 60 of the nations top comedians, kicked off last Thursday night. This festival truly gives a glimpse into the life and lifestyle of underground comedian culture.

As a sponsor, the Mindzai promo crew was in full force, setting up shop in the swanky Hotel Midtown lobby. It was interesting to speak with the numerous comedians about their print, design and marketing needs. Admittedly, the lot seemed unfamiliar to us at first. But once we got down to the basics we discovered they’re not so different from our musician friends. Show posters, business cards, posters, and flyers have always been a way of life here at Mindzai. Now we’ve come to find out that funny guys need them too! In fact, the comedians, in addition to performing, are invited to attend a number of business panels. One emphasized the importance of having a custom business card and branding package, not some cheap boilerplate design. Scouts honor, we had nothing to do with organizing the panel! But obviously, we couldn’t agree more! We also got a lot of complements on our show poster design for the festival!

With three venues popping off till April 1^st there’s still plenty of opportunity to get in on the fun. Tonight we’ll be at Relapse Theater soaking up the vibes. Come by and say hi!
